20 Computer Tips & Tricks to Save Your Energy and Your Data

You have been typing up some text when you suddenly see some mumbo-jumbo appear on the screen. You save a web link to read a page later and then you find out that it’s gone. You work hard on an essay and don’t save it before the computer battery dies. If you have ever been in situations like these, we have good news for you — soon, you will forget about them once and for all.

Deep IT & Computer is sharing tricks that ensure you won’t lose any important data and save time when doing everyday tasks on the computer. And don’t forget about the great bonus waiting for you at the end of the article.


A)  To reopen a recently closed tab:
                      i.            Windows — Ctrl + Shift + T
                    ii.            macOS — Cmd + Shift + T
B)   To save a webpage as a PDF:
                      i.            Windows — Ctrl + P, then choose “Save as a PDF”
                    ii.            macOS — Cmd + P, then choose “Save as a PDF” in the drop-down menu
C)   It’s easy to find a specific book in Google: open the advanced search and choose the necessary file format — PDF, DOC, RTF, DjVu.
D)  To learn the time in any city, type “time+city” into the search engine.
E)   To learn the currency exchange rate, type “900 dollars in euros” into the search engine.
F)    To use Google as a calculator: type in the desired number and plus, minus and other symbols and press “Enter”.
G)  To restore the address of the current webpage in the search field in case you make a mistake while typing, press “Esc”.
H)  If 140 symbols on Twitter are not enough for you to express something, use Twishort, Twit Longer or Tall Tweets.
I)      To save the Facebook pages you like to look at them later: choose “Save Link” at the top of the page. To return to the article, open “Saved” in the menu.
J)     If you don’t know the e-mail of the person you are interested in, you can send an e-mail to their Facebook address — username@facebook.com. The network will redirect the message to the e-mail the account is registered with.
K)  Find a lost document and any other file or launch a program:
                      i.            Windows — Win + R, enter request
                    ii.            macOS — Cmd + Space (Spotlight), enter request
L)    To change the font size in Word:
                      i.            Windows — Shift + F3
                    ii.            macOS — Shift + F3
M) To save an open file:
                      i.            Windows — Ctrl + S
                    ii.            macOS — Cmd + S
N)  To cancel the previous action:
                      i.            Windows — Ctrl + Z
                    ii.            macOS — Cmd + Z
O)  To repeat an action:
                      i.            Windows — Ctrl + Y
                    ii.            macOS — Cmd + Y
P)    Google Docs is a great tool for people who work with text a lot. All documents are saved every second and you can edit them from any device.

R)   To delete a Facebook account in case of death, you should go to “Settings” — “General” — “Manage Account” — “Your Legacy Contact” and choose “Request account deletion”.
